The World Champion

May 29 2007 was the big day for me. I got the message from IROA I now a member of IROA . im now á gray man, i have been working for that the last 3 years.

I will like to say thanks to Barry Pollard, Geir Owe, Jim Gibney for helping the way, but a special thanks goes to Anders Buchwald he help me a lot, he brought me for the first time to Philipsburg 2 years ago in 2005 and then he took the time of the job again last year and brought me to Quickborn, so Anders have been a big help for me, he teach me how to run a stage always have a clean stage, that’s what shooter like, they like to come to a clean and nice stage, he teach me so many thinks, thanks Anders and for all the other people there have been helping the way.

Range Officers form the support and infrastructure of practical shooting, and for this reason, we have organizations like the International Range Officers Association (IROA) and the various National Range Officer Institutes (NROI). They were designed to establish a structure for the creation, accreditation, recognition, and maintenance of match officials. Following the goals of the Range Officer Creed, these organizations will ensure that IPSC Range Officers are the best trained, the best qualified, and the best prepared, to a same world-wide standard. There exists a direct relationship between the quality of the officiating, and the quality of the competition. And because of this, officials around the world can be proud of becoming Range Officers. They can enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow officials, and be proud to be a part of the fraternity of IPSC Officials.

Establish international training standards for IPSC Range Officials.
Advise on aspects relating to the safe conduct of competition.
Advise on rules of competition and principles of good course design.
Provide assistance to Regions in establishing their National Range Officer Organizations.
Publish a periodic newsletter.
Maintain an organized world-wide team of internationally accredited officials.
Certify International Officials.
Serve and support Level III, IV and Level V Matches.
Advise and set recommended minimum standards, and an annual maintenance program for IPSC Officials.

One of the ways IROA provides assistance and advice to Regions, and to all IPSC members, is by answering questions. We often get questions about rule interpretations, particularly when new rules are introduced. To assist in this area, we have an IROA FAQ which provides answers to frequently asked questions.
Certification of IROA Officials
IROA has specific requirements for the certification of officials. Once certified, IROA officials must accumulate match points each year to maintain their certification.

Officials earn match points by officiating at matches, and different levels of matches earn different points.
Level I - 1 point
Level II - 2 points
Level III - 3 points
Level IV - 4 points
Level V - 5 points
IPSC Match Ratings
Match Ratings were designed to define the scope and nature of the match. A Level III Match is a Regional Championship. A Level IV Match is a Continental Championship. A Level V Match is the World Shoot.
