LITHUANIA OPEN 2008

Day one july 2

Gert and Mark pick me up 6:45am, and we hit the road to the airport, to find a parking lot but all was fully book, so we have to find a place 10 min from the airport, tjeck in at the airport took long time so we just make it to the airplane. When we arrive in Vilnius, quartermaster Mr. Vitalas Sabaliauskaspick us up and bring us to the hotel, we arrive there 14:00pm and after one hours it was time to take a look in the old town and get some food, and now it’s time to sleep.

Day 2

Just back from a busy day, someone pick us up at the hotel this morning, and after a red bull stop, we arrive on the range, ready for the first day of prematch. We split up in 5 squad Gert took one of the squad and Mark some other squad and finish around 6 pm. in a good sunny weather, tomorrow I think there will be rain. I just did 6 stages for fun. We arrive back in the hotel at 8:30 pm and 9 we went out for a nice dinner.

Day 3

Last day of the prematch, and again today it was sunny weather, even they promise rain, we just got a few drops then no more. The prematch went ok, only one DQ, dropped firearms., I went to check out all the stage, so we will have a nice match hopeful without any problem, I make briefing for all the stage, and brief all the RO for tomorrow.

Tomorrow we will have more than 200 shooter from 15 different country, we will have 10 squad in the morning and 10 squad in the afternoon, and we will shoot 10 stage tomorrow and 10 stage on Sunday.

Day 3

As I told before this is the third time for me working on this match as a Range Master, and today is the first match day, the first 10 squad start shooting from 9 am to 2 pm and the second 10 squad from 2 pm to 7 pm.

And they have to shot 10 stages and most of the stage today was long courses.

Gert Hansen ran Stage 3, a Long Course, without any problems.

Mark Weisinger ran Stage 10, a Long Course, also without any problems,

however Mark had 2 DQ's. One AD and one with the finger in trigger in a

wrong place.

All in all that day incl. 1 dq from prematch we had 10 DQ.

Gun was falling out of holster, ad, breaking safety angel and finger.

The schedule was tight and we went little late, but all in all everyone was happy.

When I was down in stage 20 to explain about disappearing target, the rain came and I got a call up to the other range, so I have to run all the way up there in the rain and I tell you I got wet.

Again this year we have a visiting from Ireland 15 shooter and they will come back again next year hopeful with more shooter from Ireland, without them Lithuania Open will not be the same J

We had shooter from 15 different countries this year, and I can see this match will grow bigger.

After the the first long match day I call for RO meeting and we talk about the day, and prepare for tomorrow.

Last day

Again today first shot 9am and we finish last shooter 7:15 pm.

Today´s stages was most short and medium course, and the schedule today went perfect, we had 5 DQ 2 of them loaded magazine in safety area.

Mark was working on stage 18 a classifier stage 2 targets and 2 poppers, weak hand shooting. Gert was on stage 1, 8 targets.

From Denmark we had Peter Schieck, Claus Fristrup, Lars Hagemann in Production and half Dane Mats Bäckström standard. Claus was shooting a very good match, so did Lars and Mats, Peter was not shooting his best match yesterday it went better today.

Also we got 7 shooter from Norway and Lars Syversen did a good match, Lars had special fun on stage 7 short course 3 targets, sitting on a horse, sad I don’t have a video of that, but I don’t think Lars want to try a real horse.

We start the price giving 8:30 and first I had to sign all the diploma, then I had to give winner the medal.

Giving price here it’s like giving price in Le- Mant. Champagne all over the winner it was fun.

Gert got a medal for second place in Production senior, Mats 2 place in standard.

So after some long days here in Lithuania I will say thanks to all the RO for a very good job, to Saulius and Vaidas for let me run the match as Range Master.
