What a match
Went to Spring Break in Berlin. It was my first time going to Spring Break and I went together with one of our NROI Denmark, Mark Weisinger.
I picked him up at 9:20 Friday morning and we drove all the way down to Berlin, 446 km.
First we took the Ferry from Gedser at 11 am and 1 hour and 45 minutes later we arrived in Rodstock. Then it took us about 3 hours the we arrived in Berlin. My PDA made some small mistakes, but after a little drive around in Berlin we found the shooting Range.
We took a look at the range and then we went back and checked in to the local Motel-one hotel.
Later we went to a nice restaurant and ate a very nice tender steak.
Saturday morning was our first day of the Match and Mark and I both worked on stage 3, a long course 15 classic targets and 2 mini popper, 32 rounds and 160 point Stage. It was a Table start, with Gun unloaded, (pointing downrange) and all magazines that you wish to use on the table.
Its nice to see the shooter there also went to the match in Quickborn last month, we always have lot´s of fun.
It was a long day, we were supposed to work until we were relieved to eat something and then start shooting some stages at 1:30 pm, but we did not start shooting until 4 pm, because there were too many RO’s shooting at the same time and it went wrong, after a long day and we finished 7 stages (as quick as possible).
We then went home, took a shower and went back to the Steak House, ate and then went to sleep.
Sunday was our last day.
We were ready on the range at 08:30 am.
Mark went to work on stage 14 and I went to work on stage 3 again. Luckily we found out that they had changed the RO schedule and that we should not work, but shoot our last 7 Stages. We finished shooting our last Stage at about 2 pm.
Then we had to wait an extremely long time until the Match Organizers were ready for the Prize Ceremony and when they started the Ceremony, there were some shooters that did not understand the way that the Ceremony was presented. They called the Winners up in reverse order, so that Winners from place 7 to place 4 were allowed go to the prize table to pick up some good prizes, whilst the top 3 Winners only received a Trophy. This seemed strange, as normally it is the top 3 Winners at a Match that get to pick up from the table, but not in Berlin.
Well, after two long Working and Shooting days we had to go back to Denmark. We had booked our ferry for 9pm, but decided to take a chance on the earlier Ferry and luckily got the 7 pm Ferry together with Ralf, Jack, Faj Tran and Mats, but sadly, Hagemann and Kit had to wait for the next Ferry. They were too far back in the queue in the waiting line.
So what did I think about the Match.
I thought that the stages very good, short and very long distances. Also one really had to think about how best to shoot the stages in a perfect way. There were many No Shoot Classic Targets and No Shoot Pepper Poppers, many apertures. There was so much sand on the floor and especially on Saturday there was a lot of water. Many Shooters dropped their magazines in the wet sand and picked them up again, put it/them back in their gun and tried to shoot the stage finished, mostly without much success. Five or Six shooters had to stop and received Zero for that Stage
My performance after 14 stages and more than 300 rounds I end up with 57.86%
